A picture of Liliah

Description

Acedra is a tiny creature almost exactly 1 meter in height with rubbery, smooth and hairless skin in a greyish green color and tree bark pattern and extremely long hair full of maple leaves that grow out of it, both of which change colors with the seasons (vivid green in spring and summer, bright reds and yellows in autumn and deep black during winter).

The dryad has similarities with elves, fairies and others with her very long ears that point backwards and stick out from the back of her head by an inch or two, as well as with her diamond-shaped, finely-featured face giving her a mature look, yet so serene she looks innocent. Her body is fairly light, weighing 16 kilos (35 pounds), and is neither warm or cold, quickly changing to the ambient temperature.

She is very shy and easy to scare away, but once she is at ease she is kind and fun to be with. She never wears clothes since it is completely alien to her, blocking the wind and sunlight she thrives on. She prefers walking on wood or stone, and abhors transformed wood or synthetic materials in much the same way as if humans walked into a house made of squared off human limbs.

Features

Acedra is a multiple-tree Dryad. Her life is linked to those of her trees, all sugar maples, that are scattered all around her home forest. The main way she scatters those trees is by being fertilized by some creature, usually humans, which makes an egg grow inside her. That egg contains seeds for another sugar maple to grow and is made of special nutrients that give the tree a quick start in its growth. By doing that, she can extend her life span and ensure her survival against lumberjacks, natural fires and other harms to her trees.

Besides that, Acedra is also very sensitive to the elements, in much the same way as her trees. She adores sunlight but fears fire, wind arouses her as certainly as it spreads pollen and seeds, she finds the rain soothing and energizing, and as mentionned previously she prefers to be in contact with soil.

Acedra usually flees at the slightest hint of threat, and she can disappear with extreme efficiency given that she travels through her trees and is never far from one. Despite that, when she needs it she can grow vines from her body or from the ground, provided she is in contact with soil. The vines spring up with incredible speed for vegetation, and they crumble into dust when no longer needed.
